Sales catalogues record a painting with this title offered at the Kreimer & Brother Co. in Cincinnati in November 1935. Titled Hawaiian and Taos Paintings it comprised 34 canvases of which nine were flowers. One of the paintings was titled Peonies which may be this work.

Sharp sold a painting of this title and size to Charles E. Doll of Santa Fe in 1947, perhaps that was this work.

There are three known, similarly-sized still lifes with peonies, so it is impossible to know which is which without further study. (related image 724)
