This is perhaps the strongest of the many portraits of Sharp's devoted Crow model, Strikes His Enemy Pretty. It is thought to have been a version of this sitter displayed in 1906 at his exhibition in New York's Fishel, Adler & Schwartz Gallery and titled Strikes His Enemy Pretty—Crow.
